As I watched Nicole Kidman this evening play the part of a courtesan who finds love within the film: Moulin Rouge alongside a lesser known actor, I thought of her life in parallel: her ambitions, her divorce, her affairs in her previous entangled film (Eyes Wide Shut) prior to the break-up, and her present liberated role this night.  I watched the jovial staged tragedy unfold to her loss of life.

But I was singularly distracted by her as a lost person in the drama within the film.  And so for her I pray.   The closing motto of the film, following all of the credits, was this:

The important things in life: truth, freedom, hope (was it?) and the most important is love.

Beyond

A thought toward a quest:
Go search within my soul
The way that drapes the door.

The truth gives birth to need
Does cry apart my heart,
A break for what is new.

An act within a play
'Scape hope beyond my dreams:
The love above this life.
