HOTPEC (Cameroon) Baby Unit Sponsorship

For two months in 2002, Keziah Dougall went to help HOTPEC in Cameroon with teaching and childcare on a voluntary basis . Tanne and Beatrice Zadock run the HOTPEC orphanage training centre (founded in 1995) in Buea and they have over 20 children currently in their care. They are primarily self-sustained by their own food production and organic farming but also have some outlets for trade in cane and soap products, as well as computer services. In the area that they live, many young children and babies, particularly those disabled, are abandoned because of poverty and limited opportunities. Their primary need at this time is for a building to be used as an abandoned baby unit and also to support parents within the community.
Keziah would like to support HOTPEC’s plans for building this special baby unit. HOTPEC have 72 hectares of land available for farming and construction and are committed to rehabilitating people within the community. They also encourage sporting activities despite any handicaps. Keziah has decided to help towards raising funds by swimming and running in four Bournemouth Beach Duathlon events during summer 2002 (www.conceptsport.co.uk @ 7pm on Wednesdays, July 3rd, 17th, 31st & August 14th). For every £1 raised, the Vine Christian Fellowship (Regd. charity 290071) has agreed to match the amount raised on completion of all four events (up to a limit of £1500). If paying by cheque, please make payable to Vine Christian Fellowship Sponsorship. (Gift Aid forms are available if you are a taxpayer.)
If you would like to sponsor Keziah’s completion of these four events in any small way, please add your support below.
